Several bottles of alcohol held in police custody and confiscated during multiple different operations conducted by the Maldives Police Service in Villingili island of Gaaf Alif atoll, have been destroyed.

The police institution revealed that the hefty amounts of alcohol were destroyed at the Villingili police station on August 2.

The items included 149 bottles of alcohol and 44 cans of beer. These items were seized by officers of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), from tourists who had arrived at Kooddoo Airport for departure, between June 6 and July 6.

The institution revealed that the bottles were destroyed under the supervision of the relevant police team and under the set legal procedure for it.
