Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has brought 36 mini buses to the Maldives.

MTCC disclosed that the first shipment of the mini buses ordered by the company was delivered on Saturday morning.

The company tweeted that the wait is over. Highlighting that the port clearance is ongoing, MTCC noted that the mini bus fleet Our Mini 36 mini buses.

Speaking to Raajje mv, CEO of MTCC, Adam Azim noted that the first shipment includes 36 out of the 41 buses the company ordered. He stated that the remaining five buses will be delivered to the country on July 18.

Azim stated that these buses will be operated in Male' City, Addu City, Fuvahmulah City and Laamu Atoll.

He also highlighted that the company is working on to start the mini bus operations in Male' City on July 31.

Stating that the company is working to start the operation of mini buses in Addu City, Fuvahmulah City and Laamu Atoll on July 31 as well, Azim stated that MTCC will be working to deliver the buses to the designated cities and islands as early as possible.

Speaking more, Azim noted that the company is yet to get any answer from the Male' City Council, to start work on the bus stands to be established in Male' City, even though the company had requested the for the permit. Azim stated that once the bus stands are established, the buses will be scheduled to be at every stand, in every ten minutes.

Furthermore, Azim noted that the company would need the support of the public to smoothly kick off the mini bus operation. He advised to follow the traffic regulations and urged the public not to park in areas that are not designated for parking.

The mini buses can carry around 25 people at the same time. As such the bus has a total of 20 seats and can carry another additional five passengers. The buses also include special seats for people with disabilities. Additionally, it is made convenient for those who uses wheelchairs.

MTCC states that 12 out of the 41 mini buses will be operating in the Male' City. The rest will be distributed among Addu City, Fuvahmulah City and Laamu Atoll.
