A large number of bottles of alcohol held in N. Maafaru police custody after being confiscated during different operations conducted, have been destroyed.
The police institution revealed that the process to destroy the hefty collection was held in Maafaru island on Thursday.
The destroyed items included 94 bottles of alcohol and 41 cans of beer.
Police states that these were bottles and cans confiscated from tourists, who were travelling from Maafaru International Airport, by the Maldives National Defense Force and handed over to the Maafaru Police Station.
The institution revealed that the bottles were destroyed under the supervision of the relevant police team and under the set legal procedure for it.
