Vice President Faisal Naseem has held discussions regarding development plans for Kalaidhoo Island in Laamu atoll, with the island council.
The vice president met with members of the island council on Thursday.
During the meeting held at the President’s Office, discussions revolved around development plans envisioned for the island.
VP Naseem was also briefed on the speed of the ongoing development projects.
The meeting also saw councilors expressing the need to expedite the harbor development project and the Kalaidhoo-Dhanbidhoo causeway project.
They also stressed on the requirement for coastal protection and a multipurpose hall for the school.
Discussions also touched down on ways to address the other socioeconomic situations of the island community.
Listening to these concerns, the vice president shared the latest updates on the status of development projects planned for the island and stated that the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the Kalaidhoo-Dhanbidhoo causeway project is presently underway.
VP Naseem went on to assure the councilors that the administration will work to address their concerns.
