The shore protection project ongoing in Hoarafushi island of Haa Alif atoll, is well underway.
The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) revealed that work on the Hoarafushi Airport shore protection project has reached overall 55 percent progress and is well underway.
Currently, MTCC is conducting the work to profile the breakwater and constructing the groyne.
The breakwater profiling work has reached 94 percent progress, with the groyne construction having been 70 percent completed by Wednesday.
Scope of the project includes coastal protection and construction of a concrete culvert on the causeway which connects Hoarafushi island to the airport
The project is valued at MVR 90.5 million.
The project was contracted to the company by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on 26 July 2021.
The project was awarded to be completed within 360 days.
