Vice President Faisal Naseem has urged the society to ensure opportunities are paved for the young workforce to build their leadership skills at the workplace.
He made this statement in his remarks at the opening of the second National Human Resource Convention and EXPO 2022 on Saturday.
Highlighting that the best investment an organization could make is in the development of its human capital, the vice president noted how the Covid-19 pandemic has provided invaluable lessons alongside challenges on every aspect of how work is carried out.
Shedding light on the steady recovery from Covid-19, VP Naseem stated that the most important thing now, proves to be ground-breaking discussions on best practices regarding human resources and skills development.
Noting that not every employee needs to be seated at a desk to improve productivity, the vice president stated that Covid-19 taught the people to utilize technology to fulfil routine tasks without a hassle.
Going on to state that Covid-19 has also taught the people that the mental health and well-being of employees are as important as their physical safety, the vice president brought attention to the importance of learning lessons from the pandemic on the road to normalcy.
Taking the podium at the event the vice president also stated that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration highly prioritizes developing human capacity.
With this being said, he noted that several grants, scholarships and loan opportunities are being provided for aspiring young professionals to proceed with their education.
However, he noted that a quality education alone would not be enough to efficiently develop human capital, adding that it is crucial to ensure opportunities are paved for the young workforce to build their confidence, leadership and technical skills at the workplace.
Highlighting that the participants were all in well-situated positions to guide the workforce to help them reach their full potential and ensure not only the success of the organization but also the nation, VP Naseem urged participants to step in to ensure a safe and conducive environment for their employees.

The two-day convention was organized by the Maldives Association of Human Resource Professionals (MAHRP) and featured renowned local and international keynote speakers.
It was themed "Transformation and Culture-Future of Human Capital."
