The government has confirmed that Monday the 2nd of April is this year's Eid Al-Fitr.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs announced the decision as the Shawwal crescent was not sighted across the country as well as another Islamic nation , by sundown on Saturday.
With this, Islamic Affairs Minister Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali announced that Eid-Al-Fitr is set to begin on May 2.
Hence Sunday is the last day of Ramadan.
Eid Al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, a month during which Muslims observe fasting from sunrise to sunset .
Despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic being far from controlled, authorities earlier announced several eases to Covid-19 restrictions, including allowing prayers in congregation and even dissolving the face mask mandate.
