Vice President Faisal Naseem held discussions with the A.Dh. Mahibadhoo island Council to alleviate the social standards of the island community.
VP Naseem had a meeting with the Mahibadhoo Councilors, on Wednesday morning, at the President’s Office.
In addition to discussions about how to alleviate the social standards of the island community, VP Naseem assured the councilors that the administration would seek avenues to resolve the issues faced by the island community and work alongside the council to rectify the concerns of the people.
Members of Mahibadhoo island's Council shared pertinent needs and developmental concerns faced by the island during the meeting.
The issues addressed by the Councilors include housing difficulties arising from limitation of space on the island, delays in resuming the road construction project despite funds being allocated in this year’s government budget, difficulties in municipal waste management, and the need for student accommodation to be made available on the island.
The members highlighted that much of the island’s development is constrained due to space constraints, and urged the government to undertake a reclamation project on the island.
