With the decrease in covid-19 cases being reported in Maldives, the state of public health emergency declared on Maldives has been revoked with the Health Protection Agency announcing eases for the covid-19 safety measures announced to curb the spread of the virus across the island nation.

As such, the state of public health emergency which was announced across the Maldives on 12 March 2020 was revoked by the President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on 13 March. HPA dissolved the face mask mandate that was brought into affect across the country along with eases in other such restrictions.

With the new eases, inbound travelers can now enter Maldives without presenting negative PCR certification. They are no longer required to present PCR test results, even if they haven’t completed the Covid-19 vaccination.

HPA also revoked the mandatory quarantine period for inbound travelers, even if they have not received the two doses of Covid-19 Vaccine.

HPA states that these changes were brought after a thorough analysis of the Maldives Covid-19 situation. They highlighted that the Covid-19 situation in most islands and regions is improving and that the hospitalization and death rates have been maintained at a lower rate.

HPA revealed that a majority of the population has complete a primary series vaccination, as booster dose administration continues to increase.

HPA assured that even though the public health emergency has been revoked, Covid-19 response will continue according to the ‘Covid-19 Strategy’.
