The project to design and build the harbor in Angolhitheem island of Raa atoll, has reached 80 percent progress.
The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) revealed that the work under the project is currently well underway and that the last shipment of rock boulders required for the work were delivered to the project site on Monday.
MTCC has currently completed the dredging operations of the new harbor basin.
The scope of the project includes dredging and excavating 42,615 cubic meters, constructing a breakwater measuring 221 meters and a revetment measuring 166 meters.
Further, MTCC is also required to build a 91-meter quay wall, install 1,100 square-meters of pavement and install harbor lights as well as navigational lights.
A 45-meter groyne and mooring buoys were also included under the scope of the project.
The project, contracted to the company by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on 8 October 2020, is valued at MVR 40.7 million.
