A new Fishermen’s Park has been inaugurated in the capital’s suburban extension, Hulhumalé.

The park was inaugurated by Vice President Faisal Naseem on Sunday.

Taking the podium at the event, the vice president expressed the incumbent administration’s commitment to further develop the fisheries sector and address the concerns of fishermen.

In his speech VP Naseem noted that the fishing industry has endured a lot of economic hurdles due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

With this he highlighted the multiple contributions fishermen have made towards the country’s economy, and went on to urge the stakeholders in every industry to put in their best efforts towards economic development.

Developed by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), the Hulhumalé Fishermen’s Park offers essential services and rest and recreational facilities to fishermen and boat crew.
