Police arrest Indian man over domestic violence charges

A man has been arrested over domestic violence charges.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the man, an Indian national, was arrested in connection to allegations of domestic abuse against his wife, also an Indian national.
The case of domestic violence was reported to the police early Wednesday at around 06:20am, from a house in the capital, Malé City.
So far, police findings reveal that the man assaulted his wife with a sharp object.
Both of them are to have obtained injuries and the woman is currently receiving treatment for serious injuries at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
A video of the incident is currently circulating on social media, which shows the woman being led down a flight of stairs by police officers.
The bottom of the woman’s clothes was drenched in blood.
Further investigations are currently underway.
