An agreement to revive and promote the culture and traditions of Maldives to Turkish markets, has been signed.
The agreement was signed as part of a recent official visit by Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye on the invitation of the Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Abdulla Shahid.
As such, the Memorandum of Understanding between the government of the Republic of Maldives and the government of the Republic of Türkiye on Agricultural Cooperation was signed during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.
The MoU on Cultural Cooperation between the governments of Maldives and Turkey was signed by Mohamed Thoriq, Minister of State for Arts, Culture and Heritage.
This will pave the path for the government of Turkey to assist in the revival and promotion of the culture and traditions of Maldives as well as the promotion of Maldivian handicraft in Turkey. Further, music, visual arts and performing arts featuring the Maldivian culture and traditions will also be boosted with the aid of the Turkish government.
The Heritage Ministry has been undertaking multiple efforts to preserve and sustain the cultural sites and historic venues of the Maldives.
A total of five key agreements were signed on Sunday, as part of the Turkish minister’s visit.
