The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that the Foreign Minister of Turkey will arrive in the Maldives on Friday

Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye will be undertaking an official visit to the Maldives this weekend.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that the Foreign Minister of Turkey will arrive in the Maldives on Friday. He is scheduled to conclude his visit on January 30.

The visit comes upon the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives and President of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Abdulla Shahid.

The visit will see the Turkish minister paying a courtesy call on the Maldivian president, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih as well as Speaker of Parliament and Former President Mohamed Nasheed.

Official talks will also be held with his counterpart, FM Shahid.

Further, the visit will also see the signing of a number of key agreements between the two countries.

This is the first time a foreign minister of Turkey will be visiting the Maldives.

Appointed foreign minister of Turkey during November 2015, Çavuşoğlu also filled the ministerial position between August 2014 and August 2015.
