A man has been arrested from Thoddoo island in Haa Alif atoll, for being in possession of alcohol.

According to the Maldives Police Service (MPS), arrested is a 49-year-old man, native to Latvia.

The operation was carried out on January 6, when officers searched “Dive Villa” guesthouse in Thoddoo island.

Alcohol bottles were also confiscated during the operation.

Although no further details have been disclosed, police revealed that further investigations are currently underway.
