Development needs of the community in Dhanbidhoo island of Laamu atoll, have been shared with Vice President Faisal Naseem.
VP Naseem met with the members of the Dhanbidhoo island council on Sunday morning, where he was briefed on the most urgent development needs of the island community.
Discussions revolved around solutions to several concerns impacting the daily lives of residents such as issues with the water and sewerage system, the island’s powerhouse, coastal erosion and the difficulties facing residents in the provision of healthcare.
The councilors also shared the urgent issues facing them as well as Dhanbidhoo residents, some of which included maintenance of the island mosque, waste management, lack of space in the council secretariat as well as a futsal field for the island’s youth.
The island council also shared some requirements including an outdoor gym that accommodates all ages, in order to promote wellness and healthy habits among the community.
Listening to the island council, VP Naseem assured that work will be conducted to address the issues facing the island community, in collaboration with relevant authorities.
Sharing latest updates of some of the issues raised by the council VP Naseem reaffirmed the government’s commitment to provide full support for the council.
He went on to shed light on the tragic occurrences stemming from the current turbulent weather conditions, urging the councils to ensure that constituents abide by the rules and regulations established for the safety and protection of the community.
