Allied Insurance has signed on as the official insurance partner of the biggest football carnival for Maldivians and the South Asia region, the highly-anticipated Ooredoo SAFF Championship 2021.
During a signing ceremony held at the National Football Stadium on Monday, Managing Director of Allied Insurance Mohamed Shafaz signed the contract on behalf of the company, with President of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM), Bassam Adeel Jaleel signing on behalf of FAM.
As the insurance partner of the championship, Allied has provided a special insurance package for all of the players and officials of the national team.
The company highlighted that the “Group Personal Accident” will be accessible to all 29 players and six officials of the national team, through the duration of the championship.
Allied revealed that they have also planned additional activities to boost the national spirit for the festival.
Further, FAM also signed agreements with Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC), Coca Cola and State Trading Organization (STO) as co=sponsors of the 13th SAFF Championship.
The official campaign for the 13th SAFF Championship was launched on September 13. Maldives won its bids to host the 13th SAFF Championship, in early August.
The 13th SAFF Championship, officially named “Ooredoo SAFF Championship 2021” is scheduled from 1 - 16 October. The National Football Team squad comprising of 24 players has also been finalized and announced for the championship.
Maldives will face Nepal in the first match of the tournament on October 1, before facing Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and India respectively on October 7, 10 and 13. The top two finishers will play the final on October 16.
This is the second time Maldives will be hosting the highly-anticipated SAFF Championship. The first time was in 2008, where co-hosted with Sri Lanka. That time Maldives brought home the championship for the first time. The last SAFF championship was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 2018 where Maldives and India made it to the finals. Maldives took home the championship that year as well.
