An expatriate employed as a teacher in a school of Huvadhoo Atoll has been suspended.
According to the Ministry of Education, the Indian national was suspended following accusations of sexual abuse on a minor. The authority has since launched an administrative investigation into the case.
The sexual abuse victim has been identified as a 17-year-old who recently graduated from the 10th grade.
The case was submitted at the Maldives Police Service (MPS) on August 23.
Further investigations are currently underway.
