While the coronavirus cases in outlying atolls had been under control for the majority of the pandemic, cases reported from islands increased during the fourth wave seen in April. Currently, cases reported from residential islands exceed that of epicenter capital Male'.
However, the country's Covid-19 situation has been improving, and as reported daily cases increase as well as vaccinations, safety restrictions across the country are being eased.
As such, fully vaccinated individuals can now travel between islands without having to quarantine, with the isolation period for inbound passengers reduced to seven days.
