A total of 5,133 doses were administered under the government’s “Covid-19 Dhifaau” vaccination drive on Monday.

Latest statistics published by the Health Protection Agency (HPA), revealed that 4,207 Greater Malé residents and 926 atoll residents received Covid-19 vaccinations nationwide on Monday.

The 151 first doses administered include 118 across outlying atolls and 33 in the capital region.

Further, 4,982 second doses were also administered on Monday, meaning that the total number of persons fully vaccinated against coronavirus thus far sits at 199,784. 4,174 Malé residents and 808 atoll residents received second shots on Monday.

The number of persons who have received first doses nationwide sits at 317,549.

There are currently two mobile teams and six vaccination centers in the capital region whereas 193 vaccination centers are stationed across outlying atolls.

The incumbent administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih launched the “Covid-19 Dhifaau” inoculation drive on February 1.

On Sunday Maldives resumed administering the India-sourced Covishield vaccination after receiving a new batch, on Saturday. It has been revealed that vaccine will be administered on an appointment basis and it has been about two months since authorities halted administering Covishield. Priority is to be given to those requiring a second jab of the Covishield vaccine,.

Maldives is also expected to receive an adequate supply of AstraZeneca vaccine doses between July 12 – 20.
