A local woman passed away from Covid-19 early Sunday morning.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that the 59-year-old being treated at the Laamu Covid-19 Management Facility passed away on Tuesday night.
With this, the country has seen a total of 199 deaths from Covid-19 since the first one was reported in April 2020.
38 deaths have been recorded thus far in June.
As per the statistics released by HPA, a total of 111 deaths from Covid-19 were confirmed between April 28 and June 5 with 88 deaths reported in May alone.
The island nation has reported a total of 70,897 Covid-19 cases since the first one was detected in March 2020. There are currently less than 9,000 active cases across the country, with 62,533 recoveries recorded.
The latest government daily figures also show that a total of 314,194 people had a first dose of a coronavirus vaccine while 179,436 had their second dose by Monday.
