Maldives Police Service (MPS) is investigating a sexual abuse case against a volunteer at the Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC).
Confirming this, police said that the case was lodged at the institution on June 11.
No further details were released.
However, reports of a senior official at the Ministry of Health sexually assaulting a volunteer at HEOC has been circulating online recently. The said volunteer is an employee at the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
While a health ministry committee is also probing the matter, the ministry said that measures can only be taken against the accused after the investigation completes.
