Maldives coronavirus death toll has risen to 191 with two reported thus far on Wednesday.
The first victim reported on Wednesday was a 77-year-old Maldivian man admitted at the Hulhumale' Medical Facility (HMF), while the second victim was a 94-year-old local man being treated at the same facility.
The coronavirus pandemic has claimed over 130 lives in the Maldives during 2021 alone. The highest number of deaths in a single month was reported in May 2021; a total of 88 deaths.
The island nation has reported a total of 68,872 Covid-19 cases since the first one was detected in March 2020. There are currently 17,461 active cases, with 51,213 recoveries.
The latest government daily figures also show that a total of 312,574 people had a first dose of a coronavirus vaccine while 172,263 had their second dose by Monday.
