A further two people have died with Covid-19 in the Maldives, pushing the total deaths to 187.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that an 86-year-old local man passed away while receiving treatment at the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility (HMF) at 12:19am on Monday.

Further, a 100-year-old local man admitted at Dharumavantha Hospital succumbed to Covid-19 complications at 9:33am on Monday, making him the 187th victim of Covid-19 in the Maldives.

There have been a total of 67,950 cases and 48,086 recoveries throughout the pandemic in the Maldives. There are currently 19,668 active coronavirus cases in the island nation.

The latest government daily figures also show another 311,740 people had a first dose of a coronavirus vaccine and 172,263 had their second dose by Saturday.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed over 130 lives in the Maldives during 2021 alone. The highest number of deaths in a single month was reported in May 2021; a total of 88 deaths.
