Maldives has reported two deaths from Covid-19 on Sunday, bringing the country’s total deaths to 184.
The first death reported on Sunday was a 93-year-old Maldivian man who passed away at 00:47am while receiving treatment at the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility. The second was an 82-year-old local woman being treated at the same facility. She was pronounced the 184th victim of Covid-19 in the Maldives at 8am.
While this pushes the Maldives’ Covid-19 death count to 184, the island nation has reported a total of 67,538 Covid-19 cases since March 2020. There are over 20,000 active cases in the island nation currently, with recoveries outnumbering daily cases in the past few days.
The coronavirus pandemic has claimed over 130 lives in the Maldives during 2021 alone. The highest number of deaths in a single month was reported in May 2021; a total of 88 deaths.
