President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih arrived at ADK Hospital earlier on Sunday, to visit his best friend and former president Mohamed Nasheed, who is recovering well after having survived an attempt on his life on Thursday night.

President Solih visited former president and Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed at ADK Hospital on Sunday afternoon, and spent time with reporters outside the hospital before departing. Answering a question posed by Raajje TV, President Solih stated that Speaker Nasheed was recovering well. President Solih added that he and Nasheed had spoken at length, and that their conversations had revolved around years of close friendship, family and the state of affairs for the country at this time.

In highlighting former president Nasheed's determination and fortitude, President Solih stated that his recovery was progressing well due to the invaluable efforts of doctors. The President went on to extend his sincere gratitude to the management team at ADK Hospital, and the doctors that had treated Speaker Nasheed.

In addition to this, when asked to leave a message for supporters, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had stated that Mohamed Nasheed, as the country's first democratically-elected president, was very well-loved and respected by the people of the Maldives. The President requested fortitude on behalf of Nasheed's supporters as well as those standing with main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) during these challenging times.

The President went on to assure that no stones would be left unturned to ensure no other such tragedy occurs, and that he would remain stalwart in protecting the Maldives against the aftermath of incidents such as these. President Solih added that the biggest support to this endeavor would no doubt be MDP and the party's passionate followers.

Former president Mohamed Nasheed was taken off of life-support on Saturday following an unsuccessful assassination attempt that left him and four others injured. President Nasheed's family has since confirmed that his health is slowly recovering in the aftermath of the explosion that rocked the Maldives' capital on Thursday night.
