The International Air Transport Association (IATA) have introduced a Covid-19 "Travel Pass" for international travelers, trials for which are currently ongoing.

The "Travel Pass" was introduced by IATA in light of the Covd-19 pandemic to ease transport for travelers between world countries. The pass is modeled after a digital health passport complex, and will be available through downloading a mobile application. The application will allow access to a traveler's Covid-19 vaccination details and the results of PCR tests. Travelers using IATA's Travel Pass who have cleared international Covid-19 screenings will be allowed to move between countries without the need for quarantine.

IATA's innovative "Travel Pass" will be officially inaugurated on 1 May 2021, and will be available for travelers to Singapore. Other world nations have been participating in discussions to set IATA's new travel pass as an internationally accepted benchmark for safe post-Covid travel. Australia, Brunei, China, New Zealand and Taiwan have already assessed IATA's "Travel Pass" and recognized it formally.

The application, which has been under development by IATA for the past year, is designed to improve convenience for travelers, and recognize those who meet the eligibility criteria for safe international travel amid Covid-19. 20 international airlines have already recognized and begun trials for the new "Travel Pass" introduced by IATA.

While 2020 has been noted as the most financially damaging year for those in the aviation industry, IATA projects that international travel will only pick up after quarantine restrictions are eased across countries. The International Air Transport Association projects that their "Travel Pass" will be critical to the industry's recovery into pre-Covid conditions, which is expected in 2024 by the association's earliest forecasts.
