The government has opened bids to develop tourist resorts across 16 uninhabited islands of Maldives.
In an announcement, the Ministry of Tourism revealed that eligible investors, both local and foreign, may submit their interest to develop tourist resorts in uninhabited islands of eight atolls.
Those interested may attend the information session to be held virtually via ZOOM at 10am on April 29, by sending an email requesting attendance with their names, email addresses and contact numbers to[email protected]. These emails are required to be sent before 12pm on April 28.
The islands to be opened for bids are:
- Velifinolhu in Haa Alif atoll
- Alidhuffarufinolhu in Haa Alif atoll
- Kudafarufasgandu in Haa Dhaal atoll
- Seedheehuraa in Meemu atoll
- Seedheehuraa Veligandu in Meemu atoll
- Maausfushi in Meemu atoll
- Kaaddoo in Thaa atoll
- Kanimeedhoo (10 Hectares from the North) in Thaa atoll
- Olhufushi in Thaa atoll
- Olhufushifinolhu in Thaa atoll
- Kashidhoo in Laamu atoll
- Bodumun’yafushi in Laamu atoll
- Dhonberahaa in Laamu atoll
- Holhurahaa in Laamu atoll
- Maarehaa in Gaaf Alif atoll
- Funadhooviligilla in Gaaf Alif atoll
- Kan’dahalagalaa in Gaaf Dhaal atoll
- Kadevaarehaa in Gaaf Dhaal atoll
- Dhigurehaa in Gaaf Dhaal atoll
- Fereythaviligilla in Gaaf Dhaal atoll
- Dhekaan’baa in Gaaf Dhaal atoll
- Koderataa in Gaaf Dhaal atoll
Interested parties may acquire the form to purchase the bid documents through the Tourism Ministry’s official website. The bid document will be available to purchase from April 14 to June 6 between 9am to 12:30pm on working days. The bid documents may be purchased through the tourism ministry premises, 5th floor of Velaanaage.
Submissions must be forwarded at 10am by June 10.
