Second doses of the Covid-19 vaccinations are now being administered at Velana International Airport (VIA).

Maldives Airport Company Limited (MACL), which runs VIA revealed that the public health authorities began administering the second Covid-19 vaccine doses at the airport on Tuesday.

Vaccinations are currently open for those who received their first doses between February 1 – 8, said MACL.

MACL initiated the Covid-19 vaccination drive at VIA on March 1, under the government’s efforts to expand vaccination efforts across the nation.

Vaccinations will be carried out at the Airport Recreation Center from Sunday to Thursday, between 9am and 4pm. Further, vaccinations will also be carried out between 10am and 3pm on Saturdays.

Further, MACL revealed that those who wish to receive their second vaccine doses may register through the Queue Bee mobile application.

Anyone who carried their airport pass is eligible to receive the second Covid-19 vaccination shots at the VIA recreation center and MACL has urged all eligible persons to seek vaccinations as soon as possible.

The company went on to reveal that the initiation of an airport-wide vaccination programme carries the purpose of ensuring all operations at the airport are carried out smoothly as well as to ensure a safe and secure environment for both employees and travelers alike.

MACL has implemented a number of measures across VIA, to ensure the safety and security of all and continues to prioritize the safety and security of travelers and employees while ensuring effective operations. The company has also bagged two international awards in recognition of their achievements in this respect. MACL won the Airport Council International (ACI)'s Voice of Customer Award and the Airport Accreditation Health Certificate as well

MACL announced the first round of the Covid-19 vaccination programme in early March.

The national Covid-19 vaccination drive was kicked off by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on February 1.
