Maldives Police Service (MPS) has launched a manhunt for individuals involved in a gang violence reported on Tuesday night.

Police received reports of the gang violence at around 8:13pm on Tuesday and dispatched a team of officers to the region. However, the perpetrators had fled the scene of the crime by the time officers arrived.

A video showing a group of individuals armed with steel rods and poles gathered in Maafannu-ward of the capital, Malé City has been circulating in social media since Tuesday night. However, no sharp weapons were observed to have been used during the heated assault.

The police institution has launched further investigations into the case.

MPS has not reported any injuries in connection to the gang violence, yet.
