A man attempting to enter the Maldives with a counterfeit passport has been arrested by Immigration Border Security.

Maldives Immigration revealed that a man had been stopped by Immigration Border Security for attempting to enter the Maldives with a counterfeit passport, and that he was a 36-year-old man of Middle-Eastern origin.

Further detailing the incident for RaajjeMV, Immigration revealed that the man had attempted to enter Maldives via Doha on 8 February, with a South American country's passport in his possession.

As the man is of Middle-Eastern origin, Immigration was able to flag his passport as counterfeit by crosschecking it with the Interpol database for Stolen and Lost Travel Documents.

Immigration confirms that there is absolutely no way a person could legitimately enter the Maldives with counterfeit travel documents, passport or fake identification.
