The Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services have announced that nominations are now open for this year's Rehendhi Awards, set to be presented to celebrate and acknowledge women with extraordinary achievements across different sectors.
Seven women were conferred the prestigious Rehendhi Award last year. The Rehendhi Awards series has been ongoing since 2014. The nominations window for this year's Rehendhi Awards have now been initiated by the Gender Ministry, and nominations will be accepted until the last day of February.
The purpose of the Rehendhi Award is to recognize the outstanding contributions to societal and national development on behalf of women across different fields, and to recognize those individuals and collectives working towards women's development in the Maldives.
The categories for which Rehendhi Awards will be granted this year read as follows;
1. Exclusive women nominees category
2. Category for those providing employment opportunities to women/institutions
3. Women's Development Committees Category
4. Category for Clubs and NGOs working towards women's development
5. Category for men and women from the general public who have contributed outstanding efforts to women's development
According to the Gender Ministry's statement, nominations will be accepted until 28 February 2021, with the opportunity to self-nominate also available, in addition to having been nominated by others as well.
Additional details, including terms and conditions to be eligible for different categories of awards. will be available for download at the Gender Ministry's website, along with the application form to submit nominees. Forms will also be available from the Ministry's offices in Male', in addition to Family and Children's Service centers across the Maldives.
