Ibrahim Hassan Manik, father of former President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik, has passed away at the age of 92.

Former President Waheed said that his father passed away “of natural causes” on Sunday morning, describing Ibrahim as “a beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather”.

RaajjeMV understands that Ibrahim was receiving care at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) at the time of his death, after being admitted there two days prior.

Popularly known as “Handhuvaru Hassan Manik”, Ibrahim was a native of Inguraidhoo island in Raa atoll.

He dedicated a majority of his life to serving the nation.

Ibrahim Hassan Manik is also the father of the Special Counselor to the Ambassador at the Maldives High Commission in United Kingdom, Naushad Waheed, as well as media veteran Ali Waheed and entertainer Ajwad Waheed.

Their mother, Aishath Moosa native to Thinadhoo island in Gaafu Dhaalu atoll, passed away a few years back.
