RaajjeTV has clarified that some information being spread by local media in relation to Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF)'s support for shooting a reality show with the channel are completely false and based around political motives, in a press statement released by the channel in relation to the issue.
The statement details that the false narratives describing the use of MNDF vessels in shooting a show for RaajjeTV are entirely fictional, and have been propagated without RaajjeTV ever being contacted to confirm the truth of the story.
RaajjeTV added that MNDF have continued to provide logistics support and other assistance to other TV channels and private businesses as per existing policies which allow them to do so if there is a risk of danger in executing an event. RaajjeTV further stated that other medias, who had been aware after the fact, had deliberately constructed a narrative that would mislead the public based on political motives.
RaajjeTV revealed that MNDF assistance had been acquired through formal discussions between both parties in relation to shooting a reality show for the channel on 11 uninhabited islands of Dhaalu atoll, and that the channel had sought MNDF's support as the crew and others involved were exposing themselves to significant risks during the course of the shooting.
Highlighting the assistance provided by MNDF to shoot the channel's celebrity race reality show, RaajjeTV thanked MNDF for conducting first-aid and surveillance training sessions for the channel before shooting, expressing gratitude for their support in attending to injuries incurred by RaajjeTV's associates while shooting was on-going.
MNDF has also corroborated RaajjeTV's clarification on the matter, revealing that they had been, and would continue to provide technical and logistics support to medias and private businesses operating under risk to citizens as per existing policies regarding such situations.
