With 48 new cases of the ongoing global Covid-19 pandemic reported on Thursday, the country’s Covid-19 tally has risen to 14,325.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) discovered 19 out of the 48 new infections from the Greater Malé Region, 15 from residential islands and 14 from operational resorts.
Thursday’s cases were confirmed out of the 3,314 samples tested between 6pm Wednesday and 6pm Thursday.
This has pushed the total number of active coronavirus cases in the country to 806.
Further, with 25 additional Covid-19 recoveries reported by sundown on Thursday, authorities have observed a total of 13,463 virus-stricken patients having recovered from the pandemic thus far, Maldives confirmed its first few coronavirus cases from a resort on March 7, 2020.
Out of the over 800 active infections, 58 patients are currently hospitalized for treatment, which is three more than the previous day, where 55 patients were receiving hospital treatment.
Healthcare officials have collected a total of 351,808 samples for coronavirus testing, thus far.
49 patients have succumbed to complications from the pandemic, in the island nation, which has a mortality rate of 0.34 percent.
