Maldives reported 25 new infections of the Covid-19 pandemic, on Saturday.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that 15 of the new cases were reported from the Maldives capital, Malé City, whereas the remaining 10 cases were detected from operational resorts.

With this development, the country’s Covid-19 tally has been pushed to 14,065.

The new cases are from the 2,422 samples tested within 24 hours.

Further, healthcare officials reported 29 patients having observed full recoveries between 6pm Friday and 6pm Saturday. This means that the country has seen a total of 13,308 recoveries from the pandemic, since it surfaced in the island nation on March 7.

47 patients are currently hospitalized for treatment, six more than the previous day.

The country’s active coronavirus infections have dropped to 701.

Healthcare officials have collected a total of 338,864 samples for coronavirus testing, thus far.

Over the course of the past week, 231 new Covid-19 cases had been reported, out of the 16,872 samples tested from January 3 to January 9.

The highest rise in daily infections, in weeks, was reported on Friday, where 52 new cases were confirmed.

The lowest cases during the review period were reported on Thursday, at 21 new infections.

49 patients have succumbed to complications of the pandemic, in the Maldives.
