Island Aviation Services (IAS) has appointed a new Managing Director.
Mohamed Mihad was appointed to the post of Managing Director at Island Aviation Services, under which the country’s national airline, Maldivian is operated, on Wednesday.
The country’s flag carrier, making the announcement via Twitter, extended felicitations to Mihad on his appointment.
Mihad served in several high-ranking positions of the government prior to his appointment to Island Aviation Services.
He previously served as a board member at the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
Other positions filled by Mihad include Managing Director of the Maldives Tourism Development Corporation from 2008 – 2012 as well as Director General at the Ministry of Finance during the extended tenure of former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
Mihad’s appointment as Managing Director of Island Aviation Services comes after the termination of his predecessor Mohamed Rizwee from the post. Rizwee was transferred to serve the position of Managing Director at the Regional Airports Company after President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih forwarded his name for approval to the post to the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB).
