Maldives reported 26 new Covid-19 infections on Monday.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) via its nightly statistics publicized on Monday night, revealed that the new coronavirus infections were confirmed out of the 2,901 samples tested between 6pm Sunday and 6pm Monday.

11 out of the new infections were reported from the Greater Malé Region, 11 from operational resorts and three from residential islands. One case was also confirmed from a liveaboard vessel.

Maldives Covid-19 tally sits at 13,893 with this development.

Further, with 13 additional recoveries reported by sundown on Monday, the total number of recoveries observed in the island nation has risen to 13,204.

Out of the 634 active coronavirus infections, 32 patients are currently hospitalized for treatment. This is three more than the previous day, where 29 virus-stricken patients were hospitalized.

The island nation’s Covid-19 mortality rate is at 0.35 percent with 48 deaths.

Healthcare officials have collected a total of 325,587 samples across the nation, since the discovery of the first few cases from a resort on March 7.
