30 new cases of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic have been confirmed in the Maldives.

Nightly statistics revealed by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) noted that the cases were confirmed from the 2,105 samples tested between 6pm Friday and 6pm Saturday.

17 of the new cases were confirmed in the Greater Malé Region, whereas the remaining 13 cases were confirmed from operational resorts.

With this development, the country’s Covid-19 tally has been pushed to 13,834.

Further, with 16 additional recoveries reported by sundown on Saturday, the country has observed a total of 13,166 Covid-19 recoveries, since it surfaced on March 7.

While active cases were at 599 the previous day, it rose to 613 on Saturday.

Out of the active infections, 29 patients are currently hospitalized for treatment; this is four more than the previous day, where 25 virus-stricken patients were admitted for treatment.

Healthcare officials in the country have collected a total of 320,957 samples since the pandemic surfaced in a resort last year.

The country’s mortality rate sits at 0.35 percent, with 48 patients having succumbed to complications.
