Out of the 2,613 samples tested within 24 hours, only eight tested positive for Covid-19.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that four out of the eight cases were confirmed on Monday are from the Covid-19 epicenter, the Greater Malé Region, whereas three were discovered from operational resorts and one from a residential island.

While this is the lowest daily rise in cases in months, the country’s Covid-19 tally has risen to 13,501.

In addition, with 34 additional recoveries from the virus, Maldives has seen a total of 12,929 virus-stricken patients recover from the infection. Maldives Covid-19 recovery rate is currently at 95.76 percent.

With 48 deaths, the country’s mortality rate sits at 0.36 percent.

Out of the 516 active cases which make up 3.82 percent of the total Covid-19 case count, 40 patients are hospitalized for treatment.

379 active cases are in the capital Malé City, while 57 are in operational resorts. There are 41 active cases in outlying atolls, 25 in islands under development and 12 in liveaboard vessels. Further, there are three active infections in industrial islands as well.

Maldivians contribute 62.96 percent of the Maldives Covid-19 tally with 8,500 locals having contracted the virus. Further, 3,293 Bangladeshi nationals have also contracted the virus, making up 24.39 percent of the total cases, 790 Indian nationals contribute 5.85 percent of the cases, 359 Sri Lankan nationals making up 2.66 percent of the virus tally and 160 nationals from Nepal making up 1.19 percent.

In addition, 49 Russian nationals make up 0.36 percent of the virus tally, whereas China contributes 0.30 percent with 41 infections and 309 other nationalities making up 2.29 percent.
