Maldives reported 16 new infections of the Covid-19 pandemic along with 42 additional recoveries, on Thursday.

The Health Protection Agency revealed that the new cases were confirmed out of the 3,171 samples tested between 6pm Wednesday and 6pm Thursday.

11 out of the newly confirmed cases were reported in the Greater Malé Region whereas one was reported from a residential island and four from liveaboard vessels.

The 42 additional recoveries have pushed the country’s total recovery count to 12,828.

The country’s Covid-19 tally currently sits at 13,418.

Further, HPA statistics go on to reveal that out of the 535 active coronavirus infections, 48 patients are currently hospitalized for treatment.

Authorities have collected 280,377 samples for Covid-19 testing, to date.
