Maldives reported 22 new Covid-19 infections on Saturday.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that 15 out of the 22 new infections were reported in the greater Malé region, four from residential islands and three from operational resorts.

With this development, the country’s Covid-19 tally has been pushed to 13,348.

The new cases were confirmed out of the 1,966 samples tested within the past 24 hours.

Out of the 634 active Covid-19 cases in the island nation currently, 61 patients are presently hospitalized for treatment, this is one more than the previous day.

162 patients are seeking treatment at isolation facilities.

There are 529 active coronavirus cases in the greater Malé region, 35 in outlying atolls, 37 in operational resorts, eight in liveaboard vessels, 21 in islands under development and one infection in an industrial island.

In addition, nightly statistics publicized by the public health authority notes that 19 additional patients recovered from the virus by sundown on Saturday, which means that the total number of recoveries has been pushed to 12,659.

As of Friday, the coronavirus pandemic which surfaced in the island nation on March 7, has claimed 48 lives in Maldives.
