A second victim injured in the fire aboard a boat docked near Thinadhoo island of Gaafu Dhaalu atoll back in November, has passed away.

The incident aboard “Raasthaa” boat took place on November 22. The victim died was brought to the capital for further treatment, he passed away on Monday. He had burns on over 45 percent of his body.

The first victim, a 40-yead-old who had sustained burns on over 60 percent of the body, died on December 1. Both the victims of the fire are native to Thinadhoo island.

While a total of four people were injured in the fire, reports indicate that the other two are doing well.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) had said that the cause of the fire was a gas leak.
