ACC pursued MVR 10 mln in remedies for the state
ACC had forwarded cases that amount to over MVR 10 million in remedies to the state for prosecution
This amount comprises of remedies owed to the State in just 16 cases.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had forwarded cases that amount to over MVR 10 million (10,329,233) in remedies to the state for prosecution last year.

In its annual report for 2016, the ACC said that said amount are the remedies owed to the State in just 16 cases.

ACC reportedly probed 817 cases in 2016, 14 cases were forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in addition to two cases from 2015.

The commission further said it had forwarded cases that amount to over MVR 506 million for prosecution in the last five years.

The ACC publicized its annual report on Thursday, and at the event to do, the commission’s chair Hasan Luthufee answered a question about its 2016 inquiry into a massive corruption scandal involving the state-owned Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation – posed by RaajjeMV – and assured the commission’s commitment to its timely conclusion, adding that it was one of three cases given top priority.

The ACC had launched its investigation in 2016, and Luthufee said that he was confident that the report, previously said to be 600 pages, will be released in April.
