Construction of new thalassemia centre to commence within 10 days
 
Minister Naseem assured that the services will be improved

The current centre used for thalassemia treatment is the same one that has been used since 1994

Construction of the new thalassemia centre to be built in the capital’s suburban district Hulhumale’ is to commence within the next 10 days.

Vice President Faisal Naseem inspected the site allocated for the construction of Thalassemia Centre on Friday, as well as the ongoing development of Central Park and the development site for a parking zone adjacent to MPL Bus Stand.

Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Mohamed Aslam, and Minister of Health, Ahmed Naseem, accompanied the vice president, along with Housing Development Corporation (HDC)’s Managing Director, Suhail Ahmed.

They shared details of the ongoing projects with Vice President Naseem.

The current centre used for thalassemia treatment is the same one that has been used since 1994. While there have been complaints of lack of space and resources there, these were recently shared with the new health minister by the parents of the children seeking treatment there.

Minister Naseem is to assured them that the services will be improved with the establishment of the new centre, as well as that the place will have a child friendly environment.
