Maldives reported 30 new coronavirus cases on Sunday.

The cases were among the 1,763 samples tested within 24 hours and include 22 locals and eight foreigners.

While most of the 12,608 Covid-19 cases confirmed in the island thus far are from the capital region, 27 of the cases reported on Sunday are from the region as well.

There are 956 active cases currently including 12 cases across 12 residential islands as well as a total of 209 cases in 31 resorts; these include 54 tourists and 155 staff.

With an additional 40 recoveries reported on Sunday, a total of 11,599 patients have recovered from the virus.

The country has seen 46 deaths from Covid-19 including one on Sunday, a 77-year-old local man.

86 patients are receiving treatment at hospitals, four more than the previous day.
