A 42-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly robbing a guesthouse after posing as a police intelligence officer.

Three individuals robbed a guesthouse ‘Fariva Stay’ by posing as police officers, on Wednesday morning. They are to have bound three staff members with plastic cable before looting the place.

Local media has reported that stolen items include over 20,000 MVR in cash, a laptop and over 200,000 MVR worth of gold jewellery.

Police said that a suspect in the case was taken into custody on Thursday morning.

The court remanded him for a period of 15 days.

The police continue to probe the case.
