39 new cases of the global Covid-19 pandemic have been confirmed in the Maldives.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that the new cases include 20 Maldivians and 19 foreigners.

With this development, the country’s Covid-19 tally has been pushed to 11,932.

32 of the new cases were detected in the greater Malé region whereas the remaining seven were confirmed in residential islands and resorts.

Friday’s cases were confirmed out of the 1,473 samples tested from 6pm Thursday to 6pm Friday.

Further, with 31 additional recoveries reported by sundown on Friday, the total number of recoveries in the island nation has risen to 11,041.

Out of the 845 active coronavirus cases in the country, 212 are seeking treatment at isolation facilities. The number was at 185 on Thursday.

54 patients are hospitalized for treatment.

Statistics go on to reveal that there are 20 active coronavirus cases across 15 residential islands, including six Maldivians and 14 foreigners.

The number of active coronavirus cases among resort workers is at 120, there are active cases across 28 resorts, including 52 tourists.

Maldives reported the 39th death from Covid-19 on Friday evening, when an 88-year-old admitted at the Hulhumalé Medical Facility passed away while receiving treatment.
