Go Air is set to resume operations to Maldives in November
Velana International Airport (VIA) revealed that Go Air will resume flight operations to the island nation on November 1.
Corporate Affairs Deputy Chief Officer at VIA, Mohamed Niyaz told RaajjeMV that the flights will be scheduled from three destinations of neighboring India.
11 weekly flights are to be operated, revealed VIA.
Since Maldives reopened borders for international travel on July 15, a total of 15 airlines have resumed flight operations thus far.
Some of them include Aeroflot, Air India, British Airways, Edelweiss, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Austrian Airline as well as Flu Dubai and Lufthansa
As Maldives reaches peak days in tourist arrivals, a number of airlines are set to resume operations, in the near future, some of which include Gulf Air, AZUR Air, Nordwind Airlines as well as China Southern Airlines.
Earlier, Minister of Tourism, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom revealed that 18 airlines will resume flight operations to Maldives by the end of November.
Following permission from the Health Protection Agency (HPA), the government approved split stay at all types of tourist accommodation facilities recently, which allowed tourists to split their stay between resorts, hotels, guesthouses as well as liveaboard vessels with prior approval as per split-stay procedures and guidelines issued by the ministry.
Earlier, authorities had also extended the validity time for negative PCR certification from 72 hours to 96 hours prior to tourist arrival in the Maldives.
Latest statistics publicized by the ministry reveal that a total of 37,468 tourists arrived in the Maldives since the government reopened borders. The top source market for tourism is Russia, the highest increase in tourist arrivals was observed within October, as such, within October 1 – 28, 18,601 visitors were recorded, with a daily average of 620 arrivals.
