A local has been left with serious injuries following an accident in Gan island of Laamu atoll.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they received the report of the accident at around 9:30pm on Thursday.
The accident occurred when a speeding motorcycle crashed into the back of a pick-up vehicle in Mukurimagu, Link Road.
Injured in the accident is a Maldivian man, 29, who was operating the motorcycle.
The 29-year-old is receiving treatment for injuries at the Gan Hospital.
The accident is under further investigation.
